Police charge driver in fatal Moncks Corner hitandrun

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) – Officers in Moncks Corner have apprehended a suspect in connection to a fatal hit-and-run that occurred over the weekend.
38-year-old Dominique Stanley contacted authorities Sunday through her attorney and turned herself in.
Officers responded to her home and tra
nsported her to the Berkeley County Detention Center.
Stanley was charged with hit-and-run accident resulting in damage to attended vehicle, hit-and-run accident resulting in minor injury, and hit-and-run accident resulting in death, according to the Moncks Corner Police Department.
Law enforcement also found a black Mazda CX-5 that Stanley is believed to have been driving during the accident. The vehicle was parked in front of the home and had heavy front-end damage, police said.
An initial investigation revealed that Stanley drove off the roadway around 11:43 p.m. Saturday near 1350 US Highway 52.
When the vehicle veered, it hit a parked car and two individuals who had stopped to help a third person.
Both victims who were standing outside the vehicle were taken to the hospital with injuries. 51-year-old Tonya Frazier of North Charleston died at the hospital due to injuries sustained in the collision, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Kelly Powell.
The second injured person suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They have since been released from the hospital.
"We send our deepest sympathies to the victim's family. While nothing can undo this tragedy, we hope the arrest brings the victim's family closure," said Moncks Corner Chief of Police Lee Mixon. "Our officers and detectives worked tirelessly to resolve this case, and I'd like to thank the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office and our media partners for their assistance."
