While millions of Americans must file their 2024 taxes by Tuesday, residents in Southern California will have a little more time. Los Angeles County taxpayers automatically have a six-month extension on filing their tax returns and on making tax payments, according to the state tax board. The Oct. 15 deadline applies to individual income tax returns and payments normally due on April 15. According to the tax agency, this relief also applies to the 2024 estimated tax payment, normally due on Jan. 15, and estimated tax payments normally due on April 15, June 16, and Sept. 15. The extended deadline also applies to affected businesses: Quarterly payroll and excise tax returns normally due on Jan. 31, April 30, and July 31, 2025.
