Carolyn E. McShane
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Carolyn Elizabeth (Loverink) McShane on April 11, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Carolyn was born at her home in Hollandale, Minnesota on September 26, 1939, to John and Aradine (Higgins) Loverink. She grew up i
n the Albert Lea, Minnesota area until she moved with her family to Ida Grove, Iowa, where she met her first husband, and together they had five children.
In 1972, she moved to southern Minnesota where she raised her children. Carolyn worked as a seamstress at Drapery Services in Austin, Minnesota until her retirement.
Carolyn had a kind and free spirit. She loved spending time with her family, and will be remembered as a feisty, outspoken woman who was an avid reader and crossword champion. She was creative and enjoyed many hobbies, including sewing, crocheting and baking, but her favorite pastime was reading followed by a long nap with her beloved cat, Lucy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John and David; and sister, Ruth.
Carolyn will be missed by her children, Marc (Maria) McShane, Woodbury, MN, Karrie McShane, Forest City, IA, Roxane (Ali) Merhi, Milwaukee, WI, Susie McShane, Austin, MN, Michele (Mike) McFarland, Austin, MN and stepdaughter, Kathy Ehrig, Iowa Falls, IA; grandchildren, Angela, Staci, Megan, Phillip, Nathan, Michael, Sam, Jack, John, Sarah, Emad, Zeke, and Ryan; and many great-grandchildren.
A private gathering to celebrate her life will take place at a later date.
Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
