In August of 2024, 74-year-old Richard Bauserman was found guilty of child abu

After Bauserman set the firearm down on the sofa, the 5-year-old then reached for the gun from across a coffee table, where he then accidentally shot himself. The victim was treated and released from the hospital, and his aunt testified on Monday that he has recovered and is now well and active.
During Bauserman's sentencing on Monday, April 14, he talked extensively about his experience with firearms, saying that as a firearm instructor, he would usually go to a practice range five times a week.
Bauserman showed remorse during Monday's sentencing, saying that he lives with this every day in addition to major health problems.
The judge ultimately sentenced Bauserman to 30 days active time in jail, calling it a major lapse in judgement.
