STOKES COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Troopers are investigating after a teenager was killed in a crash in the Piedmont Triad. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, they responded to a crash just after 6 p.m. on Saturday in Stokes County, on NC 8 near Sawmill Road. A gold 2002 Ford Taurus was driving on NC 8, and veered off the road, overcorrected and left the road on the opposite side. The car then drove through a lawn and hit two trees. The driver, William James Turner, 17, of Madison, died at the scene. Troopers believe excessive speed was a contributing factor.
