Grimsley High School football team to play game at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WGHP) — The defending 4A state champion Grimsley High School football team will begin its title defense inside of an NFL stadium.
The Whirlies are one of four high schools that have been invited to the Keep Pouding High School Classic that will take place at 8 p.m. on Aug. 22 a
t Bank of America Stadium, the home of the Carolina Panthers.

The other schools participating are West Charlotte High School, South Pointe High School and Hough High School. Grimsley's opponent will be West Charlotte.
Stars that are returning to help Grimsey defend its title include Faizon Brandon, a five-star recruit currently committed to the University of Tennessee. Brandon is currently rated as the No. 1 player in the Class of 2026 by 247Sports.
Brandon will also have one of his top weapons back in tight end DJ Howerton. Howerton, a three-star recruit and the No. 30 player in the state of North Carolina for the Class of 2026, has yet to make a college choice. ...read more read less
