UPDATE (As of 11:45 a.m.): The first witness called on Monday was medical examiner Dr. Derek Bumgarner he is testifying that Charles Vallow was shot in the heart with the initial shot. Dr. Bumgarner says Vallow may have then fallen to his knees, explaining the cuts found on his legs. In cross-examination, Vallow Daybell asked Bumgarner if the cuts on Vallow's knees may have been caused by a "scuffle beforehand" he said it is possible.
