Some spotty sprinkles this morning, otherwise we wait until later this evening for the threat of strong to severe storms ahead of a cold front.
The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has placed parts of the region under a slight risk (2 out of 5 on the severe scale) with damaging wind gusts and hail b
eing the two main threats with these storms.
The timing of these storms holds off until after sunset. You'll want to stay weather aware from 8pm to midnight as these storms slide from west to east.
Ahead of this storm threat, we'll see highs reach into the 70s for most of the region. For the Shenandoah Valley, temperatures could soar to near 80.
For tomorrow, some lingering showers are possible early as the cold front clears the area to the east. Winds will pick up by late morning. A Wind Advisory has been issued for parts of western MD, the eastern panhandle of WV and parts of the I-81 corridor from 10am to 8pm Tuesday where gusts could reach up to 50 mph. As for the rest of the region, sustained winds will reach 20-25 mph with gusts upwards of 35 mph at times.
Wednesday will still remain breezy, but it will be cooler with highs around 60. Thursday and Friday bring a gradual warmup with highs in the mid-60s Thursday, lower 70s by Friday under mainly sunny skies both days.
