Open Thread: Chris Paul, Harrison Barnes, and Julian Champagnie played in every Spurs game this season
Apr 14, 2025
The two Spurs elders set an amazing example For the first time in a decade, Chris Paul played in all 82 regular season games. He is the first player in NBA history to do so while playing in his twentieth season. His leadership with the Spurs paired with his endurance has endeared him
to legions of Spurs fans who once railed against him during the heat of battle.
During last night’s telecast Jacob Tobey stated that Chris Paul has said he is going to talk with his family about plans for next season. While the addition of De’Aaron Fox and the emergence of Stephon Castle could create a logjam at the starting backcourt positions, the elder statesman may want to continue to shape the Spurs as they advance their strategy toward world dominance.
In addition to CP3, Harrison Barnes played in all 82 games this season. He ended the season with his 304th game in a row, the second longest current streak in the NBA behind Mikal Bridges who played for six seconds yesterday solely to maintain his 539 game streak. Barnes had the best shooting year of his career shooting 43.6% from downtown, a veritable three-point assassin from the corners.
The only other member of the San Antonio Spurs to play in each and every game this season was Julian Champagnie. The New York native averaged 9.9 points per game shooting 36.7% from beyond the arc. Champagnie’s shot can be lethal and has fit in well with a five man squad where he’s left open while defenses double Victor Wembanyama.
The Spurs will now enjoy their break and prepare for the changes that are coming this summer.
