LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Funeral plans have been announced for Lexington Police Officer Devan Gales, who passed away late last week.
As previously reported, officials say Officer Gales died sometime late Thursday night or early Friday morning, just after midnight. The Fayette County Co
roner has determined his death was due to natural causes. He was 50 years old.
The Lexington Police Department announced his passing Friday afternoon, sharing that Gales had been with the department since 2004 and most recently served as a patrol officer in the East Sector. He was remembered by colleagues for his smile, laugh, and lasting impact on those he worked with.
According to officials, visitation for Officer Gales will take place Wednesday evening at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road. His funeral service is scheduled for Thursday at noon, also at Kerr Brothers.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support his family during this difficult time. As of now, it has raised nearly $9,000.
