Mild and breezy with a few showers or storms today
Apr 14, 2025
It’s a very pleasant start to our Monday morning, with temperatures in the upper 50s and 60s. We’re dry to kick off the day, but we will see a few showers and possible thunderstorm develop this afternoon and evening. Skies stay mostly cloudy, and a cold front is set to move across the state by l
ate morning. That front will keep our high temperatures near 70°, which is still quite pleasant for this time of year. It will be breezy, though — wind gusts could reach 25 to 30 mph at times.
This afternoon and evening, spotty to widely scattered showers develop. An isolated gusty thunderstorm isn’t out of the question, especially in our eastern and southern counties. However, the better chances for stronger storms lie just to our east, in parts of Ohio and Kentucky, where the Storm Prediction Center has issued a “slight risk” (level 2 of 5) for severe weather.
Behind the front, cooler air moves in for Tuesday. Morning temps will dip into the 40s, and we’ll only climb into the mid-50s by the afternoon. Winds pickup and will gust out of the NW between 30-40 mph. This is the coolest day of the week. We start trending warmer as the week goes on. By Good Friday, we could be flirting with 80°!
That warming trend also comes with a heads-up: we’re already watching the potential for severe storms to return on Friday. The Storm Prediction Center has already placed a large portion of the state under a risk for severe weather. It’s still a bit early to pinpoint exact timing, so, be sure to check back for updates in the coming days.
