WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) — The White House continues to defend President Donald Trump's tariff policies while critics say it's been a chaotic rollout. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said tariffs will soon be imposed on electronics like smartphones, after those items from China were *exempt* from reciprocal tariffs. “They're included in the semiconductor tariffs, which are coming in probably a month or two,” said Lutnick. This all comes after President Trump paused reciprocal tariffs on most countries last week, kept a 10% baseline tariff in place, then raised tariffs on China to 145%. "There is no tariff policy. It's just all chaos and corruption,” said Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.). Massachusetts Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren criticized the trade policy.  She says Congress needs to rein in the president's actions. "Every Democrat is ready to go, to push back and take away from the president the power he's now exercising,” said Warren. The White House is defending the tariffs. "This is unfolding exactly like we thought it would,” said White House Trade Advisor Peter Navarro. Trade adviser Peter Navarro said the tariffs would make trade more fair. "The world cheats us.
