Sen. Scott to tour Charleston homeless shelter while visiting area affordable housing projects

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – U.S. Senator Tim Scott will visit a Charleston homeless shelter Monday, which is part of a multi-stop tour of affordable housing projects in Charleston County.
Sen. Scott will be joined by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner as they
tour One80 Place on Walnut Street.
The facility is a six-story, $44 million housing shelter project that is currently under construction. It’s expected to create 70 affordable housing units and a 65-bed family shelter.
According to Sen. Scott’s office, the shelter is located in a so-called “Opportunity Zone,” and will be the first of its kind in the area. The goal is to replicate the project across the country. ...read more read less
