King of Prussia man convicted of raping child in Bristol
Apr 13, 2025
A 39-year-old man was convicted on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, for the rape and sexual assault of a girl in Bristol Township.
Following a three-day trial, Charles J. Sylvester, of King of Prussia, was found guilty by a Bucks County jury of rape of child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a c
hild, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors, and two counts of indecent assault.
Following the conviction, Common Pleas Judge Charissa J. Liller revoked Sylvester’s bail and deferred his sentencing so the Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board can recommend whether Sylvester meets the criteria to be declared a sexually violent predator.
The Bristol Township Police Department began an investigation in the beginning of 2024. The crimes occurred between 2015 and 2018 when the victim and her family lived in Bristol Township.
The victim identified Sylvester as her attacker, telling police that he would sexually assault and rape her inside the home when she was between the ages of nine and 11.
This case is another example of this office’s commitment to identifying, arresting, and prosecuting those who prey on our most vulnerable victims.
Bristol Township Detective John Jennings investigated the case, and Assistant District Attorney Sara L. Salvo prosecuted the case.
