TOPEKA (KSNT) - Thanks to Senate Bill 199, fireworks can now be sold year-round in Kansas, and retailers are deciding if it's worth it or not.
The law was signed on Wednesday, April 9, but retailers may be opting out.One retailer tells 27 News that shipments are now more expensive because of tari
ffs, and that some sellers have even stopped their shipments all together.
While not planning to sell year-round, one owner plans on extending sales for three weeks around the fourth of July.
"People wait till the last minute so they walk into a fireworks stand on July 4th and wonder where all the product is. But it's because they waited till the last second to buy," Garrett's Fireworks Owner, Eric Garrett said. "But this gives that time period a little a little bit bigger for us so that we can accommodate people before the season and after."
