Happy Sunday, DMV! Today is the pick of the weekend as high pressure provides the area with dry conditions. After a chilly start to the morning temperatures this afternoon will warm up into the 50s and 60s. A mix of sun and clouds will be the trend and at times a light breeze will be felt across the
area.
Tonight, a few clouds will begin to roll their way and a stray shower will be possible overnight. Lows tonight are expected to dip into the 40s. Once again, we kickstart your Monday off with dry conditions, with mostly cloudy skies. Most of the day looks to stay dry with highs a little warmer reaching into the 70s. A cold front will cross the area late Monday evening sparking up a few storms that could be on the stronger to severe side. The Storm Prediction Center has areas east of I-81 under a marginal risk (1 out of 5) for severe weather, with areas west of the I-81 highlighted under a slight risk (2 out of 5) for severe threat. The main threats tomorrow night will be gusty winds and heavy downpours.
Storms will fire up in the higher elevations between 4-5 p.m. before hitting the District between 7-8 p.m. Storms will continue for the first half of the evening before we start to dry things out late Monday night. An isolated shower could be possible to kick start your Tuesday, but the majority of the day will remain dry. Behind the cold front, cooler conditions will return to the DMV as highs for Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be in the 50s and 60s.
