Woman dies, passenger injured after crashing into RFD truck

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – One woman has died and one man was injured during a motor vehicle crash Sunday morning in Rochester at the intersection of Hudson Avenue and Avenue D. Officers with the Rochester Police Department say the Rochester Fire Department was already on scene in the 800 block of H
udson Avenue attending to a call for service.
According to the RPD, an RFD fire truck was parked, unoccupied, and facing northbound on Hudson Avenue with its emergency lights activated when a black Volvo was heading northbound on Hudson Avenue facing a red light at the intersection with Avenue D when the driver passed the red light and struck the back of the fire truck.
Officers say the driver of the Volvo is a 35-year-old woman and she was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Her passenger is a 32-year-old man and he was also taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening. The investigation remains ongoing. ...read more read less
