MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Valley Children's Healthcare hosted a 5K and family walk for families with autism and sensory needs.
Each year, "Run with the Heroes" brings the community together to support families with autism and sensory needs by participating in a 5K and family walk.
"It's eve
rybody who come alongside them to make sure that they have champions with them to fight in this whole journey," Shelly Reyes, Clinical Program Coordinator for George's Pass said.
Reyes says George's Pass offers resources to families who have children with autism.
"It's already hard to come into the hospital, but more so for kids that don't have language, and they don't have, sensory issues," Reyes said.
This year they also wanted to light up the night with a drone light show and a sensory-friendly carnival.
"Every child should have an opportunity to be free and to have fun and play," Mo Elahi, TransAmerica financial advisor group said.
Organizers say the event is not only meant to spread awareness but to celebrate the people who help children with autism through their journey. ...read more read less
