HS Girls Lacrosse Notebook: Riley Carr does it all at Notre Dame
Apr 13, 2025
It has been an awesome year for Riley Carr.
“It’s been crazy, but it has been so much fun,’’ said the Notre Dame senior and starting goalie for the Irish.
It’s also been a very deserving and rewarding time for Carr.
It began last spring when she was elected president of the ND Student Body
. This spring she was crowned Miss. St. Patrick’s Day and led the parade in March. She was awarded the Billy Briggs Scholarship and will be traveling to Ireland in the summer, and oh yeah, she is turning away shots in the goal for the Irish.
“It has all be so much fun and I’m not ready for it to end,’’ said Carr, who will be attending Seton Hall in the fall. “Being Miss. St. Patrick’s Day was so great being able to honor my culture and having the community supporting me. I was proud and honored and then I didn’t want that day to end.’’
Good times seem to find good people and the good times continued for Carr earning the starting assignment for the Irish.
“Last year coach Fish (Bryan Fisher) asked if I wanted to play goal since we needed extra help there,’’ recalled Carr. “I always want to win so I’ll do whatever my team needs for a win. So, I volunteered.’’
It’s been a win-win for Carr and Notre Dame as the Irish are off to a 4-1 start and Carr has a 4.25 goals against average.
“Riley has stepped into her role as goalie with confidence this spring,’’ praised Fisher. “She loves the team, brings great energy every day and is all that is good at Notre Dame.’’
Carr plays soccer for the Irish in the fall, is a cheerleader in the winter and now is a major contributor to lacrosse team.
“It’s been a great time, I play with my friends and they trust me and I trust them,’’ said Carr. “We are a close team.’’
It was around this time last year when Carr was elected the president of the student body, which she found during a lacrosse game.
Carr has been a true leader on the off the field and is a person show loves having the opportunity to given back.
“A leader to me is someone that always puts others before themselves,’’ declared Carr.
She is ever grateful for the support from her mom Debbie, her dad Tom and her siblings.
“They’re the best,’’ emphatically stated Riley. “My parent and my sisters are always looking out for me and every time I tell them I’m doing something new they are always so happy and so supportive.’’
It’s been a well-deserved and awesome time for Carr and with her personality, desire to help others and succeed, it’s really only the beginning.
