KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police are investigating after a motorcyclist died in an overnight crash on MO 291 Highway near 23rd Street. According to the Independence Police Department, at about 12:20 a.m., officers were called to 291 Highway on reports of a crash. KCPD officer seriously injured in assault while investigating crash Investigations revealed that the driver of the motorcycle had been driving southbound on the highway when it ran into the back of a Chevrolet Equinox that had been stopped at a traffic light. IPD said the motorcyclist died at the scene and was not wearing a helmet. The driver and passenger in the Equinox were not injured.
