BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Police arrested one person on suspicion of drunken driving and issued multiple citations to unlicensed drivers during a checkpoint and saturation patrol held Friday in northwest Bakersfield. A total of 960 vehicles were screened in the 900 block of Calloway Drive bet ween 6 p.m. and 2 a.m., police said. Seven motorists were cited for driving while unlicensed and two for driving on a suspended license. Six vehicles were impounded, and three released to licensed drivers. Police made 14 traffic stops during the saturation patrol. Five people were evaluated for DUI, one arrested. Additionally, eight citations were issued. One vehicle was impounded for a license violation, police said. Anyone who sees a suspected drunken driver is asked to call 911. ...read more read less
