Forest fire north of Woodland Park sends smoke across Teller County

DENVER (KDVR) — A forest fire is burning near Turkey Tracks Shooting Range, according to a post on X from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
A combination of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Office of Emergency Management, U.S. Forest Service and Teller County Sheriff's Office are working
to contain the forest fire.

The fire is near Highway 67 and Rainbow Falls.
Approximately 150 acres have burned, and the fire is at 0% containment. Campers in the area are being advised to evacuate.
A helicopter is on the scene to assist with suppression efforts.
DCSO said that windy, hot, and dry conditions are making it difficult to combat the fire.
Officials in Teller County ask the public in Woodland Park only to call 911 if they see active flames or a plume of smoke. ...read more read less
