WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- The United States Department of Homeland Security has given an update on the man who was wrongfully deported to El Salvador, as determined by the United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS).
In a status update given by a Senior Bureau Official in the Bureau of Western Hemisph
ere Affairs, Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia is "alive and secure" in a Terrorism Confinement Center in El Salvador.
The update does not include the work being done to bring Garcia back to the U.S., despite the judge's order. It is unclear if this information has been shared with the court
Garcia was deported on March 15 by the Department of Homeland Security over claims of his involvement in the MS-13 gang and "administrative error."

SCOTUS determined there was no evidence of Garcia's involvement in the gang and ordered that he be returned to the U.S., to which the White House has responded, saying it is not in the court's jurisdiction since he is no longer in the country.
The lower court judge ordered the U.S. government to provide daily updates on Garcia's whereabouts and the work being done to return him to the U.S.
The court provided the government with three orders that they must satisfy by the end of the day on April 14 at risk of being held in contempt of court by SCOTUS:
Explain how the government would facilitate bringing Garcia back to the United States or explain why it cannot.
Provide a reason by 10 a.m. on Monday as to why the court should not hold the government in contempt after previously not complying with prior orders, including Friday's request to provide Garcia's location.
Ensure that Garcia's case is handled as if he were never improperly sent to El Salvador.
