CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) -- A driver has been arrested after a police pursuit that injured one Virginia State Police trooper on Saturday afternoon. The Chesapeake Police Department was notified of a vehicle pursuit that initiated in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, at approximately 2:35 p.m. The sus pect's vehicle had struck an Elizabeth City police vehicle. Chesapeake police became involved in the pursuit when the suspect came into the city, and they successfully deployed spike strips. Virginia State Police troopers assisted with the pursuit when the suspect continued onto I-64. The suspect's vehicle struck three state police vehicles before stopping on I-64 near the Indian River Road exit. The driver was taken into custody.
