Morgan County upgrading 911 dispatch with hightech mapping data

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – Morgan County is upgrading its 911 dispatch system to include a real-time, precise mapping system that’s been credited for saving lives.
Morgan County Public Safety Dispatch will be the first in Indiana to use RapidDeploy’s Radius Mapping, a web system desi
gned to deliver pinpoint locations of 911 callers with satellite data.
The system can also show dispatchers indoor maps and floor plans, allowing them to guide first responders to the quickest point of entry.
“We are excited to bring this level of innovation to our 911 operations,” Morgan County Public Safety Dispatch Director Zachary Worth said in a statement. “Radius Mapping brings all the data we need into a single, intuitive view – helping our team stay ahead of the unfolding emergencies they encounter on a daily basis.”
Radius Mapping uses GIS-based caller location, streaming video, text-from-911, and other features which the company claims cuts response times, helping to save lives.
“Our team is better equipped to respond with speed and confidence,” Worth said.
Morgan County previously contracted a similar service from RapidSOS for $61,000 over five years. Last Summer, Worth told County Commissioners there were installation issues, the product was never used, and he was able to end the contract.
Worth said the five-year price for Radius Mapping is typically $125,000, but he was able to negotiate the cost to $75,000.
