South Carolina teacher and track coach arrested again on secret peeping charges

ROCK HILL, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A teacher and track coach in Rock Hill has been arrested again. This time, on secret peeping charges.
Doug MacAlpine, 37, was taken into custody this week after an ongoing investigation revealed new evidence amid active March charges of sexual exploitation of
a minor. MacAlpine is a teacher at Castle Heights Middle School and the track coach at Rock Hill High School.
“He downloaded them (videos) from the internet, somehow, wherever, and that’s where we got the tip that this has happened,” said Trent Faris, public information officer for the York County Sheriff’s Office.
But the investigation didn’t stop there. MacAlpine was arrested again.
According to arrest documents, this week’s new charges stem from a video that was recorded in a classroom at Castle Heights Middle School, where MacAlpine allegedly filmed a coworker’s leg while she was wearing a dress.

The video, taken under a table, was recorded without her consent. Court records confirm that the footage was found on MacAlpine's phone, and the offense is classified as "peeping," a violation of South Carolina’s laws against eavesdropping and peeping.
“She should have the right to know she is free from that kind of thing, especially from a colleague and inside of a school,” said Faris.
New court documents show that on January 6, 2025, MacAlpine allegedly uploaded a media file featuring a child engaged in sexual activity. Other uploads were also found from dates spanning back to October and November of 2024, leading to the initial March charges.

“Through the investigation the first time, they seized all his laptops, all his electronics,” said Faris.
The York County Sheriff’s Office says they found a video on MacAlpine’s phone where he secretly recorded a co-worker’s legs under a table at work.
After MacAlpine’s first arrest, Rock Hill Schools released a statement.
“We expect all staff members to serve as role models and uphold the trust placed in them by our students, families, and community,” the district said in a partial statement.
Investigators say they are not finished.
“We’re still combing through all his data to see if he downloaded anything else or videoed anybody else. At the moment, it’s just this one colleague and no students, thank God, that were filmed,” said Faris.
After MacAlpine was arrested the first time, Rock Hill Schools put him on administrative leave.
Queen City News checked back with them Friday and he remains on leave.
