Two North Carolina preschool teachers charged after one was accused of assaulting 16 toddlers

MAIDEN, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Two preschool teachers are facing abuse and assault charges, according to Maiden Police.
On Monday, March 31, police were alerted to possible child abuse in the 2- and 3-year-old class at Maiden Rosenwald Preschool Academy. An investigation was launched, and the
preschool staff immediately prevented the accused teacher from having contact with students.
On Tuesday, April 1, police carried out a search warrant at the preschool and got security video, employee records, and other items.

After reviewing the video, police say they have identified 16 children as victims. The parents and guardians of the affected students have been contacted.
On April 10, 46-year-old Cheryl Ikerd Dobbs, the teacher accused of the abuse, was arrested and charged with and charged her with four counts of misdemeanor child abuse and 15 counts of misdemeanor assault on a child under the age of 12.
Investigators also identified Daisha Samone Williams, 34, as an additional suspect. She was allegedly a teacher in the same classroom as Dobbs and was arrested on April 11. She was charged with:
Misdemeanor Child Abuse,
Misdemeanor Assault on a Child Under age 12 and
Failure to Report Crimes Against Juveniles.

Williams was taken before a Catawba County Magistrate, who placed Williams under a $1,300 secured bond.
This is an ongoing investigation.
Police say staff and board members of the preschool have been very cooperative.
The school director did not return our request for comment.
But parents tell Queen City News they want justice.
"She should be prosecuted to the fullest extent. I think she should stay in jail," said one parent. ...read more read less
