COLUMBUS, Ohio (WJW) - Two men from Mississippi have been ordered to pay more than $15,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to charges related to poaching white-tailed deer in Ohio.
According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Dawson Brown, 25, and Jase D. Smith, 24, both of Poplarv
ille, Miss., pleaded guilty to multiple wildlife violations.

Hunting with the aid of a motor vehicle (Belmont County Court)
Hunting deer with a firearm during the archery season (Belmont County Court)
Hunting outside of legal shooting hours (Belmont County Court)
Possessing untagged deer parts (Belmont County Court)
Hunting without a nonresident hunting license (Belmont County Court)
Hunting without a nonresident deer permit (Belmont County Court)
Spotlighting (Belmont County Court)
Jase D. Smith
Hunting without permission (Muskingum County Court)
Hunting without a nonresident deer permit (Muskingum County Court)
Hunting without a nonresident hunting license (Muskingum County Court)
Failing to game check a deer after harvest (Muskingum County Court)
Possession of untagged deer parts (Belmont County Court)
In a press release, officials said, Brown was ordered to pay $13,169.37 in restitution and $865 in fines and court costs, serve three years of probation, and forfeit his hunting privileges in Ohio for three years. Brown was also sentenced to 390 days in jail, with all but 30 days suspended.

Meanwhile, Smith was ordered in Muskingum County court to pay $1,885 in restitution and $249.25 in fines and court costs, serve 30 days in jail, and forfeit his hunting privileges in Ohio for three years. He was ordered in Belmont County to pay $605 in fines and court costs and complete three years of probation.
Officials said, evidence was forfeited to the Ohio Division of Wildlife including six antlered deer skulls, a five firearms, a crossbow, a spotlight, deer mount, and venison.
