WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Officers have arrested four people in connection to a robbery that took place at a Chanel store in Washington, D.C., on Friday.
The Metropolitan Police Department said the suspects entered the store in the CityCenterDC shopping plaza, located in the 900 block of I St.
NW, just before 2 p.m. on Friday, April 11.
The suspects then sprayed a fire extinguisher as a diversion and put $217,644.50 worth of Chanel merchandise into a large duffle bag before trying to flee, according to police. During the robbery, one of the suspects allegedly assaulted one of the store employees, who is a special police officer.
Upon leaving, the suspects reportedly damaged the store's front door before officers caught them, placing them into custody and recovering the stolen goods.

D.C. police said the following four people were arrested in connection to the incident and charged with robbery, burglary two, and destruction of property:
Devin Wingate, 18, of Suitland, Md.
Tyrik Hagood, 30, of Northeast
Jamar Tolson, 38, of no fixed address
James Crumpler-Nichols, 32, of no fixed address
Tolson was also charged with simple assault.
MPD added that a car involved in the robbery did flee the scene; however, it is unclear how many suspects who were waiting in the vehicle escaped in it.
The robbery is not the first at CityCenterDC's Chanel store. In December 2023, police released a video of suspects entering the store, setting off a fire extinguisher and snatching dozens of bags off the shelves. That case came less than a year after a dozen people ran into the store, using the same tactic to steal merchandise.
The investigation into Friday's incident is ongoing, and D.C. police urge anyone with information to call 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411. MPD is offering a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible. ...read more read less
