Happy Saturday, DMV! Cloudy skies are expected throughout much of the day as a weakened low departs off the Delmarva coast. An isolated shower will continue through the first half of the morning before drier conditions will be seen this afternoon. Cloudy skies will keep temperatures on the cooler to
day with highs struggling to get out of the 50s. Another round of light showers will be expected this evening, but today will not be a washout. At times, breezy northwesterly winds will be expected so if you plan on heading to the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade you may want to bring a jacket.
Clouds will slowly begin to clear this evening. A few showers will be possible before midnight but drier conditions will be expected for the rest of the evening. Clouds will stick around for the first half of the night before clouds begin to break apart overnight. Lows are expected to be in the 30s to lower 40s.
We turn brighter and warmer as we head through your Sunday Funday. A weak high pressure will begin to build back into the area. A mix of sun and clouds will be seen through much of the day with highs reaching into the upper 50s to lower 60s. A weak disturbance will pass through the area to kick-start the new work week. Monday will start off dry with a few clouds. A cold front will begin to move into the DMV Monday afternoon into the evening sparking up a few showers and storms. Scattered storms will fire up late Monday afternoon in the mountain counties. Isolated strong to severe storms will be possible in the higher elevations where SPC has highlighted them under a slight risk (2 out of 5) for severe weather. Gusty winds and hail look to be the main for the mountains. Closer to DC and the metro areas, SPC has been highlighted as a marginal risk (1 out of 5). Storms will begin to lose their energy as they head over the mountain counties. Storms will fire closer to I-95 right around the time of the evening commute.
Brief high pressure will build back into the area, through the middle of next week. Temperatures will dip back into the 50s by Wednesday with windy conditions expected.
