FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The man allegedly caught on surveillance attacking an employee with the city of Fresno on Friday reportedly has a criminal history, the Fresno Police Department announced Saturday.
On Friday morning, Fresno police reported locating a 56-year-old city employee lying un
conscious near Kern between F and G streets in Chinatown.
Investigators said the employee was working on an electrical box when the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Dyllan Padavona, approached him from behind and hit the victim in the back of the head with a blunt object.
In surveillance footage, officers say Padavona had "casually walked away" into an alley after the victim fell to the ground.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where police say he remains in critical condition. Mayor Jerry Dyer said the victim had worked with the city since 2006 as an electrician and called the attack "vicious and unprovoked."
Fresno police say Padavona was taken into custody Friday and officially booked into the Fresno County Jail Saturday on suspicion of attempted murder.
Additionally, officers say Padavona has a history of assault on police officers, resisting arrest, trespassing, and vandalism. ...read more read less
