SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A 25-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run collision in La Jolla on Friday night, authorities said.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the man had been riding a 2023 Yamaha XMAX sport scoot
er northbound in the 3200 block of Torrey Pines Road around 9 p.m. As explained by authorities, he was unable to navigate a curve in the road, causing him to strike a concrete jersey barrier.

The impact ejected the rider from the scooter, throwing him into the southbound lane of Torrey Pines Road. While he was on the ground, an unknown vehicle ran over the man and fled the scene without stopping, police said.
Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld at this time.
