The Gophers football program picked up a commitment from Wayzata defensive lineman Eli Diane on Saturday. He is the fist pledge in the U’s 2027 recruiting class. Diane, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 235 points, had other offers from Iowa, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Iowa State, Kansas State and Colorado S tate. “1000% committed,” Diane wrote in social media. The Gophers offered a scholarship on Feb. 2, and he has made multiple visits to Dinkytown since then. Entering his junior year, Diane does not have many recruiting rankings yet, but On3 initially pegged him as a four-star prospect.
