Redlands AAUW to present festival of short films by women
Apr 12, 2025
The Redlands branch of American Association of University Women will present FilmFest AAUW Redlands, an evening of food and short films by women, April 25 on the Esri campus, 380 New York St., Redlands.
The event is a fundraiser that will help AAUW Redlands branch provide scholarships, STEM educatio
n programs and leadership training for local women and girls.
The program will feature short films that are funny, thought-provoking, artistic and inspiring, according to a news release from the Redlands AAUW branch.
“The films, all national and international award winners, encompass several genres — drama, documentary, comedy, horror — and art forms, such as animation and visual poetry,” Kathryn Brown, film coordinator for the FilmFest organizing committee, said in the news release. “We are pleased for this wonderful opportunity to amplify the works of women filmmakers.”
The event will begin with a reception at 5:45 p.m. in the Esri Café, with a buffet of hors d’oeuvres and desserts, plus beer provided by local Escape Brewery and wines.
Following the reception, the short films will be screened 7-9 p.m. in the Esri Auditorium. The films are appropriate for age 13 and older, according to the news release.
“This is the second year we’ve curated our own selection of short films, so this is a one-time, unique event created specifically for our local community,” Amy Bisek, a member of the organizing committee, said in the news release.
