Pedestrian walking on tracks killed by train in Vanderburgh County

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A person is dead after being hit by a train in Union Township Saturday morning.
Around 6:25 a.m., the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office said, deputies were called to the area of Duesner Road and Zimmerman Road after a CSX train hit a pedestrian.
Deputies say
that the person was walking on the train tracks when the train, not being able to stop in time, struck them.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene, and has not yet been identified.
Flooding made the area difficult for deputies and medics to respond. The Perry Township Fire Department assisted, letting deputies use their boats to get to the scene to investigate.
