Second man charged with murder in death of Worcester teenager

LEOMINSTER, Mass. (WWLP) - A second man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a Worcester man in 2021.

The Worcester County District Attorney's Office said that on May 12, 2021, Leominster Poli
ce officers received a report of a body in the area of 46 Industrial Road. The body, later identified as 19-year-old Franklin Mane of Worcester, was found in an overgrown area at the edge of a parking lot.

Further investigation by the Office of the State Medical Examiner found that Mane had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and that his cause of death was homicide. In May 2023, 25-year-old Wilbert Nieves of Fitchburg was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the case.
On Thursday, a second man, 23-year-old Jose Pacheco of Worcester, was arrested and charged with murder in Mane's death. Pacheco is currently in state custody on an unrelated charge and was arraigned in Leominster District Court on Friday. Nieves' case is ongoing.
The Leominster and Worcester Police Departments, as well as the Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County DA's Office, continue to investigate this case.
