More roads to close around Lambeau as NFL draft construction ramps up
Apr 12, 2025
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - As the clock ticks closer to the start of the NFL draft in Green Bay, construction around Lambeau Field has picked up.
The most visible sign of progress is the NFL draft stage and theater near the corner of Oneida and Lombardi. On Thursday, Local 5 News was there when co
nstruction workers raised the roof of the theater. Work on the stage and theater continued on Friday.
"So we have the structure, we have the theater but then the stage will come to life and you'll start seeing LED's a bunch of different graphics that are going to mimic Lambeau Field," said Green Bay Packers planning specialist Megan Roberson.
She told Local 5 News that the goal is to have the stage and theater completed by the Tuesday before the draft officially begins. The draft stage and theater aren't the only construction projects going on in the Lambeau area ahead of the NFL draft.

"Hospitality space, the Packers draft house which is our Packers everywhere activation, they started build today so there's a lot of construction and it's all going to come to life in a short 13 days," she said.
Roberson said that they're also finalizing the logistics for the shuttle buses that will transport people to and from Lambeau Field during the NFL draft. Officials estimate that 250,000 people will attend the NFL draft across its three days and that it will pump in $94 million into the state's economy.
Roads around the Packers draft footprint, which includes Lambeau Field, the Resch Center, and Titletown District, will begin to close as the construction continues. It comes out to about 4.5 million square feet of space which equates to about 70 football fields.
Officials said they need to close roads for the safety of the construction workers and to help law enforcement officials create a security perimeter around the draft footprint.
South Oneida Street and Armed Forces Drive closed down at the end of March. Beginning Sunday, officials will block off eastbound Lombardi Avenue between South Military Avenue and Holmgren Way and also South Ridge Road. On April 19, southbound Lombardi Avenue will close.
Village of Ashwaubenon officials say one of their top priorities ahead of the NFL draft is to educate residents on street closures, parking restrictions, and changes to traffic patterns. They hope this will help people minimize disruptions to their daily routines during the three-day event.
"I think the biggest thing is just transportation, traffic management," said Ashwaubenon village manager Joel Gregozeski. "Making sure they know how they can more efficiently get to the grocery store, church, things of that nature for those three days of the draft."

Packers officials asked for the public's patience as they continue to close streets ahead of the NFL draft.
The village will host a public meeting on Wednesday to answer questions from community members about the NFL draft.
The Packers announced on Friday they're still looking for people to help out at the draft. This is a paid opportunity and include positions like draft experience ambassadors, field goal kick assistants, 40-yard dash crew, and hospitality team members.

“It’s a once in a generation event our state has never seen an event of this magnitude," Roberson said. "There’s a lot of plans put in place to make sure this goes as smoothly as possible. Have some patience, it's the same stuff people do on Packers game days so just similar to a game day and just do it (come out and attend the NFL draft).”
“We’ve been working so hard at it so I think many of us are excited to see all the hard work be out into action," added Gregozeski. "Less talk more to do's and actionable items. We’re excited about it, but it’s hard to believe that it’s just a few days away.”

“We all know about beer and bratwurst and cheese but there’s so much more that Wisconsin has to offer that maybe people don’t know," Roberson said. "Our outdoor recreation food scene our dance Hmong and polka dancers both of which we highlight on day three. Experience the culture and really take it all in.”
