The woman, 34-year-old Brittney Bailey, asked to use the bathroom, to which the victim agreed. When the man went upstairs to check on Bailey, he noticed, as she was leaving, that his nightstand drawer had been moved.
Police said that after Bailey ran out of the house, the victim heard his car start in the driveway and watched it back out into the street. He noted that his wallet and keys were missing from his bedroom.
The victim recognized Bailey through a mutual friend and was able to identify her from a photo array. Bailey, charged with burglary, was arrested Wednesday and issued a $75,000 bond in Franklin County Municipal Court one day later.
Bailey previously served five years for a burglary committed in 2012. She was twice denied early release from prison after the state noted the 2012 burglary was committed while she was on community control from a 2011 attempted burglary guilty plea.
After her release in 2018, Bailey pleaded guilty to breaking and entering in Sept. 2021. She was sentenced to three years of community control, which was terminated after two years in Oct. 2023. ...read more read less
