FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The Fresno City Council awarded a construction contract to a San Diego company for its newest 911 emergency call center.
The building, expected to be built on G Street and El Dorado Street, will be an upgrade from the current 911 call center, which is located in the
basement of the Fresno Police Department headquarters.
The contract was awarded to a San Diego construction company for $12,936,795. The building will offer amenities including staff lockers, a fitness room, a break room, a quiet room, an enhanced server room, conference and training rooms, manager and superviser officers and an exterior patio area.
With the addition of the new center, officials hope there will be more space for 911 dispatchers.
"There will be more space to be able to add dispatchers in the future as we grow as a city, and need for additional staff to keep up with the service requests," said City Manager Georgeanne White.
Construction of the call center will begin in Summer 2025 and is expected to be completed in Fall 2026. ...read more read less
