SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A man is in custody after an hours-long swat standoff Friday evening. San Diego Police responded to reports of an assault at a house on Birch Street in the Shelltown neighborhood of San Diego just after 5 p.m. Friday. Police say the suspect reportedly assaulted one o f his roommates, then pulled a gun on him. The roommate was able to get away from the house before being taken to a hospital. The extent of their injuries were unknown as of Friday evening. SWAT teams surrounded the house and negotiated with the man for hours before he peacefully surrendered after 9 p.m. Police blocked off several streets in the area during the standoff. ...read more read less
