As of April 11, the U.S. Coast Guard,
DLNR and Hawaii Fire Department were all searching for the avid fisherman.
"He left to go fishing Monday night off South Point," his older brother Manu Hind said. "He dropped off his friend at the dock Tuesday night and he went back out Wednesday morning around 3 a.m."
Officials said that Earl was last seen around noon on Wednesday off Milolii and his boat was heading in the north direction.
"On Wednesday one of our uncles saw him in west of South Point toward Kona and they talked to each other about fishing, and the last he saw him he was heading offshore and that's the last contact we know from him," Manu said.

Hind's truck and boat trailer were found near South Point boat ramp on Thursday. Manu said his brothers phone is off.
"I'm not sure what's going on with his [boat] radio but yeah that's the last we heard someone talking to him was on the ocean," Manu said.
He said his brother typically fishes close to South Point and weather conditions deteriorated Thursday.
The Coast Guard joined the search Thursday afternoon by air and sea.
"Our best chance is air search. If you're on a boat in this water your visibility is gonna be like 100 feet because you're in 10 to 15 foot seas," Manu said.

He also said they have friends searching the Volcano side by helicopter and other friends on boats from the Kona side.
Manu said the friend who got off his brothers boat on Tuesday said there was a case of water and some food onboard.
"We're just praying for the Coast Guard to find him," his brother said. "He has a parachute, we threw a parachute in the water so it keeps it straight into the wind, so he has that and we're hoping he's on that waiting it out."
