NOAA reports March 2025 as third warmest on record
Apr 11, 2025
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - We've had some pretty chilly weather this April but that wasn't the case last month.
March 2025 was one of the warmest Marches on record across the world.
According to NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information, the March global temperature was 2.36 degrees
above the 20th century average of 54.9 degrees making it the third warmest March on record for the globe in NOAA's 176-year record.
That was just .05 degrees less than the record-warm March we experienced last year. March 2025 also marked the 49th March in a row with global temperatures above the 20th century average. And according to Climate Central, here in the Springfield area, the average temperature for March has increased by 2.4 degrees since 1970.
So far this month here in western Massachusetts we've been dealing with temperatures that have been running below average.
