Park City Council appoints three to Planning Commission

The Park City Council filled three seats on the municipality’s Planning Commission on Thursday.The council voted unanimously to appoint Bill Johnson, an incumbent member of the panel, and Grant Tilson to terms that end in July 2028, and Seth Beal to a term that ends in July 2029.Terms on the commi
ssion are four years. Johnson and Planning Commission Chair Sarah Hall continued to serve after their terms’ July 2024 expiration dates while a now-completed Snow Park application and Bonanza Park Land Management Code amendments that are nearing completion were being considered.The expiration dates of the newly appointed members are based on the previous term dates to maintain staggering on the seven-member commission.Fifteen applicants were interviewed for the positions, including Hall, who later withdrew her application. The other spot being filled is held by Laura Suesser, whose term expires in July.Johnson, who works in the environmental consulting industry, began serving on the commission in 2021. He has lived in Park City for 34 years, with some time away for school and travel.Tilson has lived in Park City for more than 20 years and has a background in the financial technology industry with a firm in the automobile-loan business. He also has launched a startup in the cosmetics industry.Beal, a seven-year resident of Park City, is an attorney. He has a background as an executive at Walmart and at an online bookseller that he co-launched. He also has a capital firm and is an investor in partnerships pursuing affordable and market-rate housing developments.
