'I'm pretty much screwed': Parttime firefighter in Brown County arrested on child porn charges

(WFRV) - A part-time firefighter in Brown County was placed on administrative leave after being arrested on allegations of child pornography.
43-year-old Brenton Egtvedt was taken into custody and arrested on April 9 after authorities stopped him leaving his residence, according to the criminal c
omplaint.
Fire Chief of Howard Fire/Rescue, Dennis Staeven, told Local 5 that Egtvedt is currently employed by the Village of Howard Fire Department as a part-time firefighter. Egtvedt was immediately placed on administrative leave from the department after learning of his arrest, said Staeven.

Authorities reportedly received multiple cyber tips between March and October 2024 regarding images and videos containing child pornography. The complaint said the information obtained revealed that the IP addresses used to upload the material were from Egtvedt's address.
Egtvedt was interviewed by authorities, where he allegedly admitted to owning the email addresses involved in the possession of child pornography. The criminal complaint states Egtvedt said he felt he had an addiction to both adult and child pornography.
When asked if he understood that child pornography was illegal, Egtvedt reportedly responded with 'Yes, yes, I understand... I'm pretty much screwed.'
