AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) - It was a beautiful Friday for the second round of The Masters, and some middle schoolers got to attend the tournament for the first time.
The students of Hornsby Middle School face huge financial and housing challenge, but on Friday, it was all about enjoying The Masters an
d taking in all this place has to offer.
Augusta's Hornsby Middle School and Augusta National Golf Club are only 2 1/2 miles apart, but for these children, that journey has taken a lifetime.
"Our kids are too poor to play golf," says Ramona Nora, the Hornsby Middle School Golf Coach.

Golf Coach Ramona Nora is trying to build the school's golf program."A lot of the kids don't have cars, or they don't own their own homes. We have some on the team that are homeless."
They play and practice at First Tee of Augusta, and Friday, they took a field trip to one of the most beautiful places on the planet.
"See this place right here. The most people I've ever seen in my life at one place," a Hornsby Middle School student says.
The team spent some time at the practice area. The saw Jordan Speith warming up.
"My first time watching professionals play is real good. And they can teach me some ways how to play," says one of the Hornsby Middle School students.
Spieth won the Masters a decade ago. Maybe one of these guys can grab the green jacket 10 years from now. Or maybe seeing these successful players just fuels their drive to conquer the world.
"I want to me an entrepreneur. Mechanical engineer," says another Hornsby Middle School student.
"My goal is to get famous. Make money."
An unforgettable Friday for these young men, enjoying a day at the Masters. Who knows where it might lead.
"It's amazing because they're going out there as a patron. Most of their parents are the ones that are working all night. Fixing the sandwiches, making sure everything is ready. And their kids are going so I had some parents that cried," says Coach Nora.
"So the fact that our kids can be exposed to this, will definitely make them a better person, a better citizen, and that could be life changing," says Clint Lowery of First Tee of Augusta.
One of the students says the reason he loves the game of golf is because it just cools him down and keeps tuff from getting on his mind.
This was indeed a special day for those young people. ...read more read less
