BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The City of St. George will host its first culture festival this spring.
The first Saint George Culture Scene festival is set for Saturday, May 17. This monthly event celebrates local music, art, and food. It runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Margaret’s Ep
iscopal Church, 12663 Perkins Road.
Held every third Saturday of the month, the festival is designed to showcase the vibrant cultural energy of the growing community in a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. The kickoff event will have live music from Zach McLain Nouveau Soul. There will be over 30 local artists and food trucks with local favorites, according to a news release.
“With the City of St. George newly incorporated, we’re excited to bring a festival to residents’ own backyard,” said event organizer Luke Lognion. “A portion of the profits will benefit St. Margaret’s and support the growth of their community outreach programs. This event is all about having fun for a cause.”
“Churches have always played a central role in communities they serve,” Fr. Tommy Dillon of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church said. “I’m excited for St. Margaret’s to host an event where, in our divided world, the community can come together to celebrate the divine beauty of art, music, and food.”
