AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Round Rock Police Department is searching for two suspects after an attempted child abduction happened earlier this week in Round Rock, per a news release from the agency Friday.
Around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a man who attempted to "lure children
into a van" in the 1700 block of East Mesa Park Drive.
"The children told officers they were walking in the area when a vehicle with two suspects wearing masks pulled up beside them," police said.
According to police, one of the children told officers one of the suspects got out of the vehicle, grabbed a child by the arm and then offered them candy.
"One child quickly intervened, allowing the children to escape and run to safety. The two suspects then fled the scene," police said.
As of Friday, police were still actively investigating the incident, the release said.
"The Round Rock Police Department urges parents to remind their children to stay aware of their surroundings, avoid talking to strangers, and never go anywhere alone. If children encounter suspicious activity, they should seek help and report it immediately," police said.
