(KRON) -- A Whole Foods in the South Bay temporarily suspended service in its prepared food and bakery departments after a health inspection uncovered evidence of a vermin infestation. The Cupertino Whole Foods at 20955 Stevens Creek Boulevard closed the two departments on Monday, following inspecti ons from the County of Santa Clara Department of Environmental Health. "We have temporarily suspended service in our prepared foods and bakery departments at our Stevens Creek location while we complete required maintenance," a Whole Foods spokesperson told KRON4. "The rest of the store remains open and we're working closely with local health officials to restore service once the repairs are completed thoroughly to support our high standards." During previous visits from the health department on March 25 and 26, rodent droppings were observed in the food preparation area at the store's deli. Inspectors also reported several snap traps behind and under equipment. Rodent droppings were also seen near swing doors separating a shared hallway from the sales floor. Possible whale remains wash up at Crissy Field Additional rodent droppings were found in the area under the stairs to the office where cleaning equipment was stored and in unused areas across the deli. The droppings, according to inspectors, were both old and fresh. Inspectors found live German cockroaches in "all life stages" near the dishwasher and under the three-compartment sink. Two dead roaches were found on a wall behind a wire dish rack. In the store's bakery, numerous live German cockroaches were seen near the dishwasher. The store's bakery passed a follow-up inspection on March 28. The deli passed a similar follow-up on March 26. Permits for both facilities were suspended on April 7.
