22 undocumented immigrants stopped by U.S. Coast Guard near San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A power boat carrying nearly two dozen undocumented immigrants near the coast of San Diego was intercepted by the U.S. Coast Guard over the weekend.
According to a news release, the crew of the USCG Cutter Narwhal came across the boat approximately six miles west of Poin
t Loma and boarded it around 1:35 p.m. Sunday.

The boat was described as a 45-foot cabin cruiser. On the boat, USCG crewmembers discovered 19 men and one woman, along with two underaged children, a boy and a girl.
The USCG said all of them claimed to be Mexican.
The people were taken to the Ballast Point USCG base on the Point Loma peninsula where they were transferred over to Border Patrol personnel from the Imperial Beach station. ...read more read less
