ExMMA fighter Cain Velasquez currently held in Kern County prison

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Cain Velasquez, a former UFC champion who was sentenced to prison for shooting at a man accused of molesting his son, is currently being held at Wasco State Prison, according to inmate records and mixed martial arts website mmafighting.com.
Velasquez, 42, was admitte
d in late March, days after he was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading no contest to attempted murder and other charges, according to California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation records.
With credit for time served, he's eligible for parole next year.

The Wasco prison is often used to temporarily hold newly-sentenced inmates until they're processed and sent to another facility to serve out the remainder of their term. CDCR officials say it's not yet known where Velasquez will be transferred.
In February 2022, Velasquez chased and fired at a truck carrying three people, including Harry Goularte, the man accused of molesting his son, according to the Associated Press. Another man in the truck was wounded by survived.
Goularte is awaiting trial. It's alleged he molested Velasquez's then-4-year-old son at a day care owned by his family.
Velasquez has a mixed martial arts record of 14-3. His last fight was in 2019. ...read more read less
